Attention Athletes,

We appreciate your understanding, patience and flexibility.  We are excited to announce that we have rescheduled our 2026 Ohio Senior Olympics Track and Walking events.  

NEW DATE - Ohio Senior Olympics Track and Walking events

Sunday, August 2, 2026 - Events begin at 9am

Westerville Central High School, 7118 Mount Royal Ave., Westerville, OH 43082

  • If you are able to attend on August 2nd, there is nothing you need to do. Your registration will automatically transfer to the new date, and we are grateful for your continued participation. We will provide additional event details and updates to all registered athletes in late July about a week before the event.

  • If you are unable to attend the rescheduled event, please email us at ohiosrolympics@gmail.com to request a refund of your registration fees. Refunds will be credited back to the card used during registration. Please allow a few Ohio Senior Olympics business days for us to process the refund, as well as additional time for your credit card provider to post the credit to your account.  If you were able to compete in the field events and are unable to attend the track/walk events, partial refunds will not be processed.  

  • T-SHIRT - If you ordered a t-shirt, we will have those for pickup on Aug 2nd.  If you are unable to attend we will be glad to mail out your shirt.  Please note this in your email.  

  • MEDALS - If you competed in the field events and did not receive your medals we will have these on August 2nd for pickup.  If you are unable to attend please note this in your email and we will make arrangements to get your medals to you.  

  • REGISTRATION - We have reopened registration for these events.  The new registration deadline is July 22nd at midnight.  You can edit your registration until this date.  

  • NSGA - We have been in contact with the National Senior Games Association regarding this cancellation.   NSGA will be working with Ohio Senior Olympics to assist athletes to qualify for the 2027 National Senior Games who are unable to attend the rescheduled date.   We are currently working on these details.  We will be sending out more info on this matter to all athletes who are unable to attend on August 2nd.

Registration Information

  • Track and Field fee for 2026 is $70 due at the time of registration. This fee includes all track and field throwing, jumping, running, and walking events.

  • Ohio Senior Olympics 2026 dri-fit t-shirts are optional for an additional fee of $15. Sizes are unisex.

  • T-shirts will be preordered during registration, please indicate t-shirt size.

  • Registration will close on May 31, 2026, at midnight.

Running and Walking Events - Sunday, June 14‍ ‍

All events will be held at Westerville Central High School‍ ‍

  • Check in begins at 8:00am.

  • Events begin at 9:00am and will follow a rolling schedule.

  • You must be present when your heat or event is happening. No ‘make ups’ will be permitted.

  • The heat sheets will be posted on our website, and an email will be sent to all registered athletes prior to the competition.

  • Athletes can supply their own starting blocks. We will have a limited number of starting blocks available for use.

  • The 4x100 Relay is THE ONLY event you can add during the day of the race.  There will be sign-up sheets located at the check-in table.  Your team must be formed and reported by the conclusion of the Men’s 100M Dash.‍ ‍

8. 1-mile Power Walk (formerly 1500M)
9. 1-mile Race Walk (formerly 1500M)
  *Must have 4x100 teams submitted to check-in table

Race Walk – This is a monitored event in which an athlete can be disqualified.  There will be officials for this event.  To learn about the technique for racewalking  - Visit the USTAF website HERE  https://www.usatf.org/disciplines/race-walking

Power Walk – This is a monitored event in which an athlete can be disqualified.  There will be officials for this event.  To learn about the technique for power walking please refer below to information from NSGA RULEBOOK:

‍Power Walk is a monitored event in which an athlete can be disqualified. Power Walking, while very similar to Race Walking, does not have the same technical requirements.

‍a. One foot must be on the ground at all times.‍ ‍

b. Each advancing foot strike must land on the heel and when the foot leaves the ground it must push off through the toe.‍ ‍

c. Your knee may be straightened or bent at heel strike.‍ ‍

d. An athlete is disqualified when judges determine the athlete is in violation of the definition of Power Walking.‍ ‍

e. Any violation in the last 100 meters, as determined by a single judge, results in immediate disqualification.‍

All rules, policies, and the code of conduct can be found in the ‘About OSO and FAQ’ section. Athletes should know and understand the rules specific to their sport. The OSO uses the rule book created by the National Senior Games Association for those sports that are offered at the National Senior Games. Rules for those events not offered at the National Senior Games are those of the official organizing body.
